No Screaming Kids Allowed

Restaurant to parents: No screaming kids allowed
The owner of the Olde Salty restaurant in Carolina Beach, N.C., has posted signs that say: “Screaming children will NOT be tolerated!” She says business has improved, but some parents – including the mother of an autistic child – think the policy is unfair.

Read the story here.

Do you agree with this restaurant? Is it fair to have this type of policy?

  1. I agree with the restauranteur completely. I hate going out to dinner and having to hear an unruly child – disabled or not. My first time out to dinner was at 5 years old and all my mom or dad had to do was look at me and I shut up – and if I didn’t….. I was pulled out of the restaurant and taken home.
Michael Savage was telling a story once about a screaming kid at a restaurant that he was at. He got up, walked over to the table, slapped down some money and told the parents, “Here’s some money – get a babysitter next time.” And then he walked out.
You expect kids at McDonald’s and BK but not at a high-end place.
It’s a BIG peeve for my husband and I. I don’t know what parents are thinking. Bravo restaurant!

  2. I agree with you in many ways. When you’re going out to eat, especially to a restaurant that isn’t very “kid friendly” you expect to have a relaxing nice dinner or lunch and it’s an annoyance to hear unruly children in the background. I think that if parents can’t control their children in these types of settings then it’s best to just go to places that are family friendly or kid friendly.
